The Research Center for Biomedical Engineering was established in 2016, as an initiative of the Center of Excellence Program of the Ministry of Education of Republic Indonesia, located in the Faculty of Engineering of the Universitas Indonesia.
Our objective is to improve the quality of life by developing materials, devices, and technologies underpinned by multidisciplinary research and enhancing natural indigenous resources.
Our model of research-led innovation in healthcare entails identifying relevant theories, selecting appropriate technologies, and developing new solutions where necessary. Each solution then needs rigorous evaluation for safety, effectiveness, and cost implications before promotion to healthcare systems.
All this requires close working with industry, the Ministry of Health, and across many disciplinary boundaries. The RCBE is the link in the hub of experts in biomedical engineering, clinicians from hospital medicine, and healthcare industry.
Research Center for Biomedical Engineering
Research Center for Biomedical Engineering (RCBE) is a newly developed research center at the Faculty of Engineering Universitas Indonesia, aimed at providing active contribution to solve real-world problems in communities related to the human health based on the competencies and expertise owned by engineering researchers. This area of research can be thought as the application of engineering principles or engineering instruments to the biological or medical systems. In running its activities, the center has been actively collaborating with colleagues from health related institutions such as Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Nursing, and Faculty of Public Health in Universitas Indonesia as well as domestic industries and overseas institutions.
The Biomedical Engineering Study Program combines engineering principles with medical/medical science or often called biomedical engineering. Biomedical engineering students are expected to be able to apply their engineering knowledge in solving problems in the medical field, such as the medical equipment used, methods that facilitate diagnosis and medical science, as well as processes to assist patient healing. Students will be familiar with medical equipment and all things related to health technology.
